Essential oils is the name given to more than 90 pure extracts from various plants. Despite the nomer ‘oil,’ essential oils are not, in fact petroleum products. They can be rubbed on the skin or used in aromatherapy. High quality essential oils are completely derived naturally and won’t clog pores. Because of their cleanliness, many essential oils can be used to help diminish acne.

Two of these oils are tea tree oil and emu oil. Emu oil, however, is not technically an essential oil, as it is derived from an animal. The emu is a mainly flightless bird originating mainly in Australia. The indigenous people of Australia, the Aborigines, use emu oil for its healing and restorative effects, particularly with regard to joint pain. Today, however, emu oil is used for a variety of purposes, one of those is to lessen the problem of acne.

Because emu oil is non-greasy and won’t clog pores, it makes a good skin moisturizer and softener. Lotion, no matter how ‘clean’ it is can still clog pores. Emu oil does the same job, but without the gunk that can cause acne.

Tea tree oil is another good choice for use on acne. This essential oil helps heal scars and won’t clog pores. Like other essential oils, tea tree oil can also be used for aromatherapy, soothing, even as it reduces acne. Common tea tree oil and New Zealand tea tree oil are the two common forms. The sent is balsamic and woody. The New Zealand variety has a warmer, earthier aroma.

Essential oils can be combined, and emu oil is an excellent carrier of essential oils, including tea tree oil. A combination of emu and tea tree oils can give softer, moisturized skin with a pleasant smell—all while reducing acne.

Young boys who use shampoos and lotions containing essential oils like lavender and tea tree oils may end up with enlarged breasts.

This shocking side effect was reported by researchers at the University of Colorado and the environmental health branch of the US National Institutes of Health in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The strange condition known as gynecomastia was observed in three boys aged 4, 7, and 10 who developed enlarged breasts after using skin lotions, hair gel, shampoo, and soap containing the natural oils.

“These plant oils, sometimes called ‘essential oils,’ are added to many health-care products, usually for their scent. The oils are sometimes found in other household products or sold in purer forms. Tea tree oil is sometimes used in shampoos for head lice,” revealed Jeff Donn of the Associated Press.

“The three boys were brought to their doctors with overdeveloped breasts that looked like those of girls in early puberty. They were sore in one case. For each boy, doctors could tie the problem only to their use over several months of the natural-oil products,” Donn added.

It wasn’t clear how the oils led to this problem but researchers suspect they contained chemicals that affected the boys’ hormonal balance. They appear to mimic estrogen, the female hormone that promotes breast growth.

The oils are believed to have affected young girls in the same way, including a 17-month-old child whose parents used a lavender soap to wash her feeding bottle, according to Dr. Clifford Bloch, a hormone specialist in Greenwood Village, Colorado, who treated the patients.

“Be cautious. I would not give these products to my children,” Bloch said.

“On product labels, the oils sometimes are listed by their scientific names: Lavandula angustifolia (lavender oil) and Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree oil). Such products do not require government approval to be sold unless they make specific health claims,” Donn revealed.

None of the researchers, however, called for a ban of these products, considering that the problem is rare and clears up when they are no longer used. However, they did advise parents to consider the risks of using such products.

As we wait for more developments in this area, it’s best to use other products in the meantime, especially since the long term effects of the above essentials oils remain unknown. For those considering breast augmentation, play safe by using the Clevastin Natural Breast Enlargement System. This product contains natural plant estrogens that will tighten and improve your breasts. Check out http://www.clevastin.com for more information.

Home remedies have been a part of our lives in search for cheap ways on how to treat certain mild disorders such as acne, bad breath, dandruff and more. Nail fungus, although considered as a serious nail disorder, also have several remedies that can be done at home. Some techniques may require the use of ingredients commonly found in the kitchen. Other home remedies include products that are made for a different purpose. No matter what the necessary ingredients are, people cannot be stopped from looking for alternative remedies that would let them cure their nail fungal infection inexpensively.

1. One common home remedy for an infected nail is by combining natural apple cider vinegar and ample amount of warm water. Fill the basin with equal amounts of water and cider vinegar. Relax and let your feet soaked in the mixture for about fifteen to twenty minutes. Studies show that vinegar has certain components that can prevent the growth of bacteria such as dermatophytes. After soaking your feet, make sure that you dry it thoroughly using not only a dry towel but with the help of a warm drier having a warm setting to completely dry all the moisture that surrounds the toes.

2. Natural oils have been prevalent natural home remedies for all sorts of internal and external illnesses. Oils such as oregano oil, olive oil, tea tree oil and lavender oil are used for treating nail fungal infections. Usually the lavender and tea tree oils are combined together in equal amount. Using a cotton swab or a cotton ball, dab the oil mixture to the affected part of the nail and around the toenail. The affected person must religiously do this at least two to three times a day until the infection completely disappears. This is a perfect oil combination since tea tree has a natural antibiotic components and the lavender combats infection and avoids further skin irritation. However, the use of these natural oils is only advisable for those who have a mild case of nail fungal infection.

3. Like any other discomfort that affects one’s health and appearance, diet also plays an important role in treating nail fungal infection. Those who have nail fungus must include foods rich in good bacteria called probiotics. This will help fight against the bad bacteria, which is the fungus. Kefir and yogurt are excellent sources of probiotics. The fresh extracts of olive leaf can be taken orally to fight from the inside. There are also foods that need to be reduced. This includes sugar and other foods with refined carbs as well as dairy products.

4. Also, there are no proofs from researchers, many people who are affected with nail fungal infection testifies that mint mouthwash can cure nail fungus. Some combines mouthwash with greater amount of water while others simply pour the mouthwash to the affected area. They said that the antiseptic components of these mouthwashes that claim to fight bacteria in the mouth may do the same with fungus residing in the toenails as well.

Lavender pure essential oil is native to the Mediterranean. It grows in open fields and on mountain slopes, giving off an intense aroma when it blooms. It is not primarily grown and harvested in Provence. The most potent form of Lavender is the oil. And the finest oil is distilled from Lavandula Officinalis. This variety only grows at altitudes above 3000 feet. Below are listed some of the lavender oil uses.

Lavender’s pure and clean scent is well known. It is the most commonly used essential oil and the absolute classic oil for treating burns!

A universal first aid healing oil, Lavender has broad application and may be beneficial for treating an assortment of wounds, as well as for relieving inflammatory conditions like fever blisters, rheumatism, sore muscles and back pain.

As a woman with fibromyalgia, I have made it a personal project to learn about herbal therapies to help myself manage my own headaches and chronic pain. As a nurse, I feel compelled to share alternative therapies that can ease the pain of migraine and help us manage the stress of daily living that triggers migraine headaches, muscle aches and depression.

Tea tree oils noted for their antimicrobial properties are frequently found in hair and skin care products. Even skeptics accept that mint and eucalyptus relieve stuffy noses caused by colds and flu. The perfume industry has always marketed the mood-invoking power of scent. Scents are marketed as sensual, sexy, calming, refreshing, natural, and romantic. Shopping malls use scent to create a mood.

Lavender oil has a very strong floral spice scent and its healing properties are renowned all over the world. It can revitalize and rejuvenate the immune system and help in the building of white blood cells in the blood. It has excellent antiseptic and anti-viral properties which is why it is so efficient in giving relief from the herpes virus. It is also an excellent cure for other skin infections including athlete’s foot, when blended with thyme and clove. It also has anti-inflammatory properties which help prevent fever blisters.

Lavender is excellent for skin care and promotes healing and regeneration for all skin types, especially dry skin.

Add to your shampoo for helping to reduce hair loss. Also good for regulating sebum production to relieve oily/dry scalp conditions. Helpful for controlling dandruff!

Use Lavender for burns, rashes, acne, eczema, boils, dermatitis, leg ulcers, and psoriasis. Apply it immediately to burns to prevent blistering, or scarring, as well as speed healing of wounds as it stimulates cellular repair and regeneration.

Lavender can be used for headaches, migraines and sore muscle relief. Lavender eases joint stiffness and helps us cope with chronic pain. Interestingly enough, lavender has antiseptic qualities and even repels insects naturally.

Lavender is one of the only 2 essential oils that can be used directly on skin with no dilution!

Mold Deterrent 1/4 cup white vinegar, 3/4 cup water, 2 drops Cinnamon Leaf 5 drops Patchouli, 2 Teaspoons Tea Tree & 2 drops Tagettes. Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle. If you already have a buildup of mold or mildew, allow the spray to “rest” on the surface for a few hours. Wipe with a soft cloth, re-spray the area and let dry without rinsing.
